Boat Miami

Boating Miami waterways is like playing in Paradise.  With its crystalline waters, gorgeous beaches, and never-ending sunshine, Miami is the place to be a boat owner in Florida. The waterways offer access to both inshore fun and offshore adventure.  Plus, with the many local state and city run parks, as well as tons of local marinas, you have dozens of options for places to put-in or dock.

Once you’re out on the boat, Biscayne Bay should be your first destination of choice.  There are plenty of small and large islands to explore, and several of those have parks with boat access and dockage associated with them.

Virginia Key and Virginia Key Park, located close to Key Biscayne, are both newly reopened after many years of restorative efforts.  Rich in African American history, this landmark park and recreation area is definitely something to check out.  By boat, Biscayne Bay provides the easiest (and the traditional) access to the Key.

The Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Biscayne Bay, located at the tip of Key Biscayne, offers lots of activities and places to relax along its natural beaches.  Because of a nearby reef, the waves are very gentle along the park’s coastline.  Visitors to the park can anchor overnight in No Name Harbor.  The Boater’s Grill is an onsite restaurant, and there are bathroom facilities, showers, laundry and free pump out for overnight guests.

The natural blue of the waters surrounding the area demand that when boating Miami you plan to bring your snorkeling gear.  Scuba divers, too, will enjoy the incredible underwater beauty that awaits them.  If you’re new to snorkeling, you may want to check out a local snorkeling tour boat.  That way you’re sure to be led to great dive spots.

Whether you tow your own boat, rent a boat while visiting, or live in the area and are a boat owner, there is tons for you to see and do when boating Miami.
