Boat Ft. Lauderdale

Though Ft. Lauderdale is often most recognized for its great beaches and its popularity as a Spring Break destination of choice, there are also great places to relax and boat in Ft. Lauderdale as well.  As a matter of fact, Ft. Lauderdale is often referred to as the “Yachting Capital of the World.”

Ft. Lauderdale’s boating appeal lies primarily in the fact that there are three great boating locations close to it: Port Everglades Inlet to the Atlantic Ocean, New River and the ICW.  The beautiful waters and endless sunshine in an around Ft. Lauderdale makes exploring these waterways nothing short of pure bliss.

There are also several great state parks in the area that provide public boat launches.  John U. Lloyd Beach State Park provides two boat ramps with access to the ICW as well as the Atlantic Ocean via the Everglades Inlet.  The park is known for excellent fishing and shore dives as well as its beautiful beaches.

Speaking of fishing, the fishing in the Everglades Inlet and Ft. Lauderdale area waterways is incredible.  With sailfish, wahoo, dolphin, mullet, and tarpon all making waves here, you’re sure to have a fantastic day of rod and reef fun.

If you are planning a visit to the area and want to captain your own boat in Ft. Lauderdale, you can find overnight dockage in one of the many excellent full-service marinas in the area.  There are also dozens of waterfront restaurants with docks in Ft. Lauderdale.  15th Street Fisheries is a popular spot with great fresh seafood.  The Pirate Republic Bar, Seafood and Grill is another hot spot with visitors and locals alike.

In fact, Ft. Lauderdale has a huge selection of great dining options.  When you boat in Ft. Lauderdale area, plan on docking and enjoying lunch or dinner landside.  With everything from upscale fine dining establishments to tropical cabana bar options, there is a dining and entertainment experience perfect for every taste and style.
